World Church Committee

Overall, the Blythswood Shoebox Appeal for 2011 received 118,000
filled shoeboxes, the same number as the 2010 appeal. These were
sent to the following countries; Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary,
Kosovo, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and the Ukraine in Eastern
Europe and all in time for Christmas. Boxes were also sent to India
and Pakistan for distribution during January and February.

We will be participating later this year so, can you lay aside any
empty shoeboxes in a safe place until then, please?
If you visit their website www.shoeboxappeal.org you can
watch their new DVD. Thanks too for all those who contributed.

And now, an early notification! Christian Aid Week this year is
13th to 19th May and envelopes for our door-to-door collection will
be placed at the back of the church, in manageable districts, for
delivery within our parish. Can you help this year? There will be
a list at the back of the church later in April for you to add your
name.

The World Church Committee acts in support of the Church's World Mission.

Meeting regularly, the Committee supports a fortnightly Fair Trade Goods stall, the annual Christian Aid Week collection, and regular Overseas Sunday events.
